  • Dear DA friends across the globe,

I would like to publicly endorse Martha Mcdevitt-Pugh for another 2-year term as Democrats Abroad Chair. As we build upon our hard-won progress, we cannot afford to falter. It is crucial that we continue to move forward with a leader who understands how to strengthen the foundation we've worked so hard to build.

Years of experience as a human rights activist make Martha exceptionally well-prepared to tackle the challenges we face in the Trump era. Her leadership in driving critical initiatives—most notably, leading the Get Out The Vote efforts—has demonstrated her ability to mobilize communities and inspire real action. This work has been instrumental in increasing voter engagement and ensuring that every voice is heard in the democratic process.

Martha knows how to bridge gaps and has created a network of U.S. leaders who genuinely understand and champion the distinctive needs and untapped potential of our overseas communities of Americans who thrive across the globe.

At this critical juncture, we need someone who not only understands the system but knows how to navigate it effectively for meaningful change. Based on her wealth of experience and proven track record, Martha is uniquely qualified to lead at a critical time when steady, impactful leadership is essential.

Her leadership will guide us through the unprecedented challenges we face today. Join me in supporting Martha!

    Democratically yours,

    Sarajean Rossitto

  • When I moved to the Netherlands in 2015 I wanted something to do and meeting Martha McDevitt-Pugh at my first Democrats Abroad Netherlands event had sparked a decade long friendship. Martha helped show me the ropes which led me to run for and hold positions on the NL Executive Committee and wider DA roles (LGBTQ+ Caucus and Affirmative Action Committee). I've watched her leadership on the NL Executive Committee, as a DNC member, and I co-Chaired the LGBTQ+ Caucus with her for a period.

Martha's work ethic and commitment is truly inspirational and what DA needs as we ramp up to the 2026 midterm elections. Americans Abroad and DA has a huge fight ahead as our right to vote and love for our country are being challenged. We need the continued leadership of someone who knows DA inside and out. This is no time to switch ships, when her course has been correct this past two years.

Martha has the bandwidth, the know-how, the talent, and the necessary skills to continue leading DA into the future. Martha has further endured that the DNC does not forget us, and has held them to their financial commitments to DA. And with her sparkle she has strengthened and expanded our partnerships with our fellow state parties. She has delivered on her promises and led with an unfaltering commitment and love for DA. I can say wholeheartedly she truly has become a great friend and DA Netherlands is lucky to have her in our country committee.

  • With full confidence, I endorse Martha McDevitt-Pugh’s candidacy for re-election as DPCA Chair. Over my many years volunteering in Democrats Abroad, the best leaders I’ve seen have been those who knew it was not about personal power, but about listening to us all, volunteers and non-volunteers, wherever we live. Martha personifies these qualities.

She has managed to guide and strengthen DA steadily and fairly through a busy period fraught with political upheaval in the US and abroad. Her long experience in relations with the DNC enhances our reputation. We need a Chair with Martha’s interpersonal and political skills, as we face the challenges posed by current threats to our country’s democracy and to our own rights as overseas voters.

  • As one of Democrats Abroad (DA) Australia's DPCA Voting Representatives, as the Chair of the DA Global Veterans & Military Families Caucus, and as a DA volunteer in several other capacities, the choices for International Chair and Vice Chair are clear. Candidates Martha McDevitt-Pugh and Steve Nardi have proven their commitment to always striving to improve Democrats Abroad and providing exceptional leadership. Navigating U.S. politics during these stressful and troublesome times requires tough-minded individuals to prioritize protecting voting rights for military and overseas voters. Martha and Steve have fought for our constituency over the past few years as our incumbent international leaders, and for decades before that. I have been fortunate to have met Martha in person on a few occasions, and her commitment to Democrats Abroad is unique and sincere. I am proud of Martha and Steve representing us at the DNC and securing get-out-the-vote funding for our worldwide voting population.

Martha and Steve have been supportive of pro-veterans' initiatives, pro-tax reforms, defending LGBT rights, and other measures important to all of us as Democrats living abroad. This is exactly the type of helpful leadership we have needed and will continue to need in order to fight through the right-wing extremists' playbook of deception, corruption, deflection, misinformation, and more. They have more than earned my endorsement.

  • Martha McDevitt-Pugh has led DA for the last two years with energy, passion, and thoughtfulness. She listens and she acts. She has made herself available to speak at our AGM and our leadership retreat. I wholeheartedly support her candidacy for reelection.

  • I wholeheartedly support Martha’s candidacy. We need her knowledge, experience, and even temperament to guide Democrats Abroad during these challenging times.

  • I met Martha in 2012 when we were Delegates to the Democratic National Convention. I learned about her advocacy work in the LGBT community and quickly saw her passion and purpose within overseas voter advocacy. We were both elected to serve on the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in 2016 and again in 2020. During this time we worked closely together advancing the relevance of Democrats Abroad and the stories of our members to fellow DNC members across the country.

Like me, she never missed a DNC meeting, nor has she missed the meetings with all of the Democratic party State Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Executive Directors. She's not afraid to make hard decisions, strives to be transparent and fair in all situations, returned our organization's fiscal health, and never loses sight of our mission: to register overseas Americans and get them to the polls.

No one feels a victory or loss more than Martha, as she is always reminded of the hard work and dedication of her fellow volunteers within Democrats Abroad. She's a leader within the DNC LGBTQ Caucus, and a steady voice for Americans living outside of the United States.

While staff at the DNC HQ comes and goes, State Party leaders change, Martha's connections formed with State parties since 2012 runs deep. The current DNC leadership knows her and what Democrats Abroad can achieve given the right tools and support. We're getting that now, in no small part to Martha's persistence.

Being a State Party Chair is grueling work, and Martha does it with grace and evenness.

  • As a very active DA Chair, Martha has been very diligent about visiting Chapters and interacting with DA members as time and resources permit. So, on a number of occasions over the past two years plus, here in Spain my wife and I have observed first hand how Martha has been fully engaged with DA. Every day. Morning, noon and night. Endless calls, meetings, correspondence and so on. Incredible stuff. Relentless. All totally unpaid. Unseen by most. A mountain of a job made slightly easier by the dedication of a small group of volunteers around her. Given the times we are all living through and the burden of the job that Martha has done so well for the past term, Ann and I are deeply grateful that Martha is willing to continue as DA Chair.

We are very happy to endorse her candidacy to continue. If I may say, I believe the entire membership of DA owes Martha's wonderful partner Lin a massive vote of thanks for her incredible patience, warmth and exceptional support.

  • I wholeheartedly endorse the re-election of Martha McDevitt-Pugh and Steve Nardi as International Chair and International Vice Chair.

They are a great team and lead our organization with courage, conviction, experience, hard work and even keel. They continue to move Democrats Abroad forward in this historically unprecedented, existential moment for the survival of US democracy — and yet they remain unfazed by the complexity, and just get to work.

I appreciate their leadership and am excited for us to keep up the work we have been doing to fight fascism on all fronts — through unfurling the resistance advocacy program, the return of regular actions activist members can take, and anticipating where the fight has moved to state legislatures and concentrating our tiny but mighty voices and votes where we can have our best effect as Democrats Abroad.

Please join me in supporting their re-election!

  • I’m pleased to endorse Martha McDevitt-Pugh for re-election as International Chair of Democrats Abroad.

Martha brings a wealth of experience and institutional knowledge to the role. She has held leadership positions at every level of our organization- DA International Chair, Chair of DA Netherlands, Global LGBT+ Caucus Chair, DNC Member, and more. She has consistently demonstrated a steady hand and a clear understanding of how to get things done. Her years of professional management experience show in the way she builds strong teams and helps people do their best work.

We worked closely together during the 2023–2024 election cycle. Although the outcome was deeply disappointing, I appreciated Martha’s focus, honesty, and determination throughout a very tough campaign. She stepped up when it mattered most.

As Chair of the Global Women’s Caucus, I want to highlight Martha’s long-standing involvement in the DNC Women’s Caucus and her unwavering commitment to protecting women’s rights- now under greater threat than we’ve seen in decades.

Martha and I have collaborated on countless projects over many years, and I continue to rely on her wisdom, experience, and insight. I know just how valuable her contributions have been to this organization and how urgently her continued leadership is needed now, as we assess the lessons of the last cycle and prepare for the challenges ahead in the midterms.

Martha understands the urgency of this moment. She keeps her focus on the big picture- defending democracy, protecting our right to vote, and standing firm against the rising threat of authoritarianism. We need that kind of leadership now more than ever.

There are many talented people in Democrats Abroad. But leadership in a moment like this takes more than talent. It takes experience, courage, and the willingness to lead from the front. Martha brings all of that, and I’m proud to support her and Steve Nardi as they run for re-election.

  • It is with great honor that I endorse both Martha McDevitt-Pugh for Chair and Steve Nardi for Vice Chair.

These two talented people have taken on the nearly overwhelming task of leading Democrats Abroad at this critical juncture, with so much at stake for the lives of Americans at home, the global community, and the planet. They have strong and complimentary foundations in experience and knowledge to continue leading Democrats Abroad, as we gear up for the 2026 mid-term elections to retake control of Congress.

As both a country level and a global caucus leader, I have seen first hand what strong leadership means for strategic development. I am confident they can effectively lead our resistance!

  • I supported Martha's election in 2023 and I reiterate that support a thousand-fold for this election. Martha stepped up to the plate to lead during one of the most tumultuous times in my Democrats Abroad experience.

Martha was called in her first term to restore trust, credibility, and order to the fundamentals of the DA infrastructure that were damaged and in disrepair . Martha has done that, and so much more, by empowering qualified volunteers throughout the organization and encouraged them to get the job done while providing transparency and stability for the organization -- even in the midst of great financial turmoil (and chaos) at the point of handoff when she took things over. At the Country Committee level, she has respected the autonomy and the passion of local leadership styles and traditions while again providing support, training, operational clarity and encouragement at a global level.

Rather than celebrating control over CC's, she has been able to celebrate collaborative success and come together to solve and clarify issues debated amongst our organization. As a small country committee that had been directly targeted by innuendo, scare tactics and disinformation by prior leadership we struggled to operate and grow volunteers coming into 2023 and were very disenfranchised. After the 2023 elections AND as a result of new leadership we were able to focus on the priorities of the 2024 outcomes as a CC, and with Martha's direct support we were able to move past old barriers and do the 'good trouble' work that needed to get done.

The result was a robust VFA/GOTV Ireland campaign that saw more completed VFA applications for Ireland in 2024 than in 2020, and also a growth in membership and volunteers. It saw financial and organizational stability at the Global level that allowed the org to leverage support (often needed by smaller CC's like ourselves) across finance, technology and training. As a CC and a Global Organization we are in a much different and better place than prior, and I hope that both new and existing leaders consider re electing Martha for the coming 2 year term.

In looking back at how far we have come in the past two years I fully trust her collaborative style and vision to help carry us where we need to go in the future as an organization doing the most difficult work of protecting our delicate democracy. DA is not perfect, but the fact we can focus on what we need to fix rather than just keep putting out fires is something I will never take for granted.

I am so grateful Martha is willing to stay on in this demanding capacity, and appreciate her commitment to DA and Democracy.

  • I am delighted to endorse Martha and Steve to serve once again as Chair and Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad. Together, they have worked tirelessly to advance the mission of our organization, raised the profile of Democrats Abroad within the DNC, raised us out of a situation of debt through fiscal responsibility and intelligent fundraising so that we are prepared for the challenging years ahead, and put the weight of the organization behind successful voter protection efforts (most recently North Carolina).

When we were at our lowest low after the November election, they helped us through the grieving process and redirected our energies into positive forms of resistance, simply by staying focused on our mission as a political party and by being exemplary leaders.

They have been thoughtful, deliberate, accessible, open, transparent and above all successful in their first term; with them at the helm for a second term, we are sure to be once again the margin of victory in 2026.

  • When Martha became Chair DA was underfunded. During her term, DA economy has is now on track.

She always remains calm and on topic. With her experience as Chair, she is ready to serve from Day 1 in her second term.

  • Martha has been an outstanding leader of DA for the last two years, She has built connections with the DA country committees around the globe, regularly represents us at DNC meetings, puts DA in front of the state Democratic parties, and led the impressive fundraising for the 2024 campaign to reach more and more overseas Democratic voters!

Please vote for Martha to lead us into the critical 2026 election!

  • I’m proud to endorse Martha McDevitt-Pugh for Chair. Not just because of what she’s accomplished in the last 2 years, but because of who she is and how she’s led Democrats Abroad through two incredibly difficult years.

Serving on the International ExCom comes with real weight and legal responsibility. When elected in 2023, Martha’s ideas for growth were immediately sidelined. Day 1 was unforgettable for the newly elected officers of the Excom. Logging into the global bank account, Martha and the new ExCom found less than $50 and what eventually turned out to be nearly $70,000 in external debt. Day one demanded not vision, but crisis management. Martha rose to the challenge—not with a smile, but with resolve, sheer determination, and a clarion call to her team to rise to meet the challenges.

Martha has faced a catastrophic financial situation, a lost election, volunteers burning out, and as part of her team, I can say we have had moments where it felt like the weight of it all might crush the things we care most about. Martha has navigated shifting political landscapes, a change in focus. and tough conversations that didn’t always end in agreement. But in all of it — the hard, messy, beautiful work — Martha showed up. Every time.

Martha didn’t just hold the center; she stood her ground and did her darndest to rebuild trust when it frayed. She didn’t chase the spotlight; she lifted others into it. I’ve watched her listen with intention, act with integrity, and carry both the burden and the joy of leadership with grace. There have been moments when the job could have broken someone less grounded — and instead, Martha leaned in with humility, compassion, and the belief that we could still build something better together.

Martha’s commitment to equity, to bringing more people into the fold, and to doing the work with care and clarity — that’s the leadership we need right now. Her clear understanding of leadership – meaning not just the spotlight but the hard work, the sleepless nights, the worry about the future of DA, and the road that we are taking – is exactly what we need in this time of distress. Martha doesn’t pretend the work is easy, but she refuses to shift the blame. Instead, she refocuses, finds new pathways, and asks our volunteers to join her in new ways forward. She believes it’s worth doing — and she’s proven she can do it well.

I trust Martha. I admire her. And I believe she is the right person to guide us into what comes next — not because she has all the answers, but because she leads with heart, with experience, and with a steady hand that helps others rise.

Please join me in supporting Martha McDevitt-Pugh for Chair.

  • I’m proud to enthusiastically endorse Martha McDevitt-Pugh for re-election as Chair of Democrats Abroad. Martha is not just a thoughtful and strategic leader—she’s a powerhouse who gets results. When she stepped into leadership, our organization was burdened with serious debt left by the previous administration—a financial crisis that could have paralyzed our work. But Martha didn’t flinch. She raised over $1 million and negotiated a groundbreaking monthly stipend from the DNC, putting Democrats Abroad on solid financial footing for the future.

Martha shows up. She listens. She leads with integrity and persistence. Whether you have a complex issue, a new idea, or just need to talk something through, she’s there. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with her, and I’ve seen firsthand how deeply she cares about this community and how tirelessly she works to move us forward.

We need Martha’s steady hand and visionary leadership, especially in this critical election cycle. Please join me in voting to re-elect Martha McDevitt-Pugh as International Chair.

  • It's been a pleasure to work with Martha on a variety of initiatives for the past two years. I admire her capacity to listen and to adapt as she receives new information.

As Vice Chair of a smaller country committee I also appreciate her responsiveness and making herself available.

  • I’m proud to endorse Martha, who has led us through a two year period where she has rebuilt our party, recovered our finances and revitalized our global teams, and has steered us through the rocky shoals of prepping and running our resistance.

  • I endorse Martha for her dedication , experience , quality and strategic thinking.

  • I’ll be honest: I didn’t vote for Martha during her first term. But over the past two years, watching her and Steve work with ferocious determination and lockstep harmony—always making herself available for any conversation at any time—has earned my trust.

I’ve seen Martha step away from the spotlight so others could shine, stay up all night so someone else could rest, and quietly, steadily get the work done. She listens with care, engages with thoughtfulness, and shows a remarkable willingness to reflect, adapt, and grow. I deeply appreciate her openness, her availability, and her capacity to truly hear those around her.

No, we don’t always see eye to eye. We don’t always agree—and we don’t pretend to. Sometimes, we don’t even agree to disagree. But what we’ve never lost is mutual admiration and respect—an understanding that true equality isn’t about seeing different things similarly, but about seeing different things differently. That’s a rare and necessary kind of leadership.

Martha and I have had deep and challenging conversations—and she knows we’ll continue to have them. If we want to build a strong organization, those kinds of conversations are essential. They’re the kind of “good trouble” that makes us stronger, braver, and more accountable.

Right now, we’re navigating uncharted, stormy waters. We need a leader with institutional knowledge, an ironclad will, and a clear vision—someone who doesn’t just talk about change, but demonstrates it through action.

I trust Martha to be that leader: to make the hard choices, to facilitate the necessary change, and to build not just a strong organization, but a true community—one rooted in values that are more than just words, but actions we can stand behind.

I want to see Martha and Steve continue, because in these next two years, we will need their steady hands and clear-eyed leadership to help us shine in the darkness.

  • I am proud to endorse Martha McDevitt-Pugh and Steve Nardi for re-election as International Chair and Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad.

Their leadership has professionalized our state party and put Democrats Abroad back on the map. Under their watch, 2024 broke records for overseas voter turnout, a testament to their strategic vision, hard work, and deep commitment to empowering Americans abroad.

As a DNC Member (2023–2024), I had the honor of watching them represent Democrats Abroad with pride and professionalism at the 2023 DNC Meeting in St. Louis and again at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Their strong presence raised our visibility and strengthened our long-term credibility within the broader Democratic Party.

Thanks to the powerful relationships they’ve cultivated with fellow state party chairs and DNC Chair Ken Martin, the DNC has committed an unprecedented level of financial and logistical support to Democrats Abroad. Ken’s appointment of Martha to the DNC Credentials Committee is a clear vote of confidence in her leadership and integrity.

What matters most to me is their deep and proven commitment to young voters. Under their term, the Democrats Abroad Youth Caucus fully integrated with the Young Democrats of America for the first time in our organization’s history. That kind of breakthrough doesn’t happen without intentional, strategic, and inclusive leadership.

Martha and Steve have weathered challenges with grace, determination, and unity. They’re not just capable, they’re battle-tested, respected, and ready to keep leading us forward.

I will proudly vote for them, and I hope you will too.
