Martha’s Priorities

May 2025 meeting of Democratic State Committees - collaboration with FL and NC Democratic leaders

Democrats Abroad’s mission is to strive to provide U.S. citizens abroad a Democratic voice in our government and elect Democratic candidates by mobilizing the abroad vote. These days, our mobilization efforts must include defending and strengthening our right to vote.

We are building to meet the unprecedented moment we are in, and preparing and supporting our leaders for the work ahead. If re-elected, Martha will use this opportunity to work with DA leaders to reimagine and rebuild Democrats Abroad.

Martha will:

Strengthen our grassroots country committees.

We are the face of the party abroad. By listening and showing up where people live we build a strong and caring community to get through these times together.

Martha will support country committees to build their leadership and GOTV capacity, starting with a summer of training and leadership programs in 2025 to be ready to win elections in November and in 2026.

Martha will engage DA leaders through a Grassroots Engagement working group, which will develop recommendations for supporting country committees, messaging, internal and external communication, training the next generation of leaders, and building membership.

Leverage our reach to help state parties win elections

DA is a trusted and reliable partner with the expertise, volunteers, and technology infrastructure to mobilize the abroad vote. State parties have staff and resources and understand priorities in their state—but lack strategies and knowledge to engage voters abroad.

Martha will create a Partnership Outreach working group, focused on developing proposals for activating and equipping US-based partners to better reach US citizens abroad and encourage their votes.

Rebuild our Party

Our DA Resists! program is pushing back against the Trump administration’s efforts to destroy what Democrats have built over decades—and is making an impact. DA voices are in demand by House and Senate leadership and have led the way to help fight the voter suppression SAVE Act.

Martha will continue to build resistance work to fight the Trump administration through congressional outreach, litigation and legislation to defend and strengthen our voting rights at the federal and state level.

Martha will create an Infrastructure working group to work with the International Executive Committee to assess our platforms, technologies, digital outreach, website, advertising and media relationships.
